What's Your New Year's Resolution for Using Edtech and the Common Core?

This message has been cross posted to the following Discussions: ISTE Commons and Project ReimaginED .
    -------------------------------------------

There's a conversation starting on Twitter about New Year's resolutions for using edtech along with Common Core requirements. I don't know about you, but it feels as if 2015 is barreling toward me with the speed of a train. Yet even amid the flurry of end of term and holidays and a new year and everything else it seems important to reflect on past practices and set intentions for the year to come.

If you'd like, post your resolution on this forum. You can even get creative and attach a picture-created online, taken with your phone, captured with an interpretive dance move, modeled by your pet, what-have-you-describing your intention. (Mine is posted below.)

You can also join in on Twitter with the hashtag #ProjectReImaginED.

These are awesome! I love the specificity, which highlights the diversity of focus that edtech can have.

My New Year's resolution for edtech and Common Core is to become more familiar with the Common Core standards as a professional educator. I work at an independent school that does not use Common Core, but many schools do. I find it important to keep up to date on current education issues and trends. Because I do not encounter the Common Core in my school, I want to spend some time outside of school (in this forum and otherwise) learning the standards and best practices regarding their use.

    Happy 2015 everyone!

While not really a New Year's Resolution, it does connect to the New Year..
I find it fascinating to take a look at the search trends from Google Analytics. In many of the categories there are topics that can spur very interesting connections, further research, and writing.

    Hi Sarah!
New Year's Resolution: To intentionally use and communicate ISTE standards to students and colleagues for the purpose of creating intentionally transformational experiences for mathematics students.

Ultimately, this means to me that students will be using technology and mathematical reasoning as the means to do memorable and real work in and out of the classroom!

The CCSS are daunting to many teachers and students.  By making the learning relevant to students it can help them to acquire and retain the information across grade levels and subjects,
