    Hi everyone
I have been gathering a lot of different resources, also joined in the one educator community on Facebook and have seen so many great things being shared. I wondered if anyone has come across resources for world language teachers. I have seen a few things posted, but was also looking for some ideas that were not totally tech based that I could share.

One resource that @Sarah-Jane Thomas created is this Padlet. Lots of great information shared here.

    Hi Rachelle,

I hope this response finds you well!

    Techie for World Language:
I have a high school that is using Wixie to record statements that were written on the various pages so the teacher can check verbal fluency and diction. She tried doing it in Google, but the students had to record first and then bring it into Slides, so their district opened Wixie for all grades. She is also having them write journals in Spanish since you can change the language of Wixe and use the Spanish Keyboard.

Using other programs to record video with the same concept.

    Not too much Tech:
Students are creating a game about a Spanish speaking country for others to play and learn more about the country's culture. They are using technology for research but the game has to be a board game that can be physically played. She's hoping to find a way to disseminate the games in two weeks for others to play or encouraging them to play online with a friend and a lot of trust. She has to figure out the last part because of lock down.

    Hi @Danielle Abernethy
Thanks  so much for sharing.  We have used Flipgrid and SYnth  to do some recordings but more recently, I have also had students create with Buncee for the past five years and now with the video option available since earlier this school year, I am going to use it to have students record themselves.
Many great ideas out there for sure, can be overwhelming to navigate through everything. I just did a post about setting up ways to communicate. Connectedness

    Hi Rachelle,
I don't have much in this area, but Edutopia's resource page seems good: https://www.edutopia.org/blogs/tag/world-languages
Also Joshua Cabral's page on World Languages Classroom https://twitter.com/WLClassroom offers a lot of links to other sources, Twitter, Facebook, etc.as well as links categorized by descriptors that could lead to activities and ideas for classroom or online learning.

This is not my area, but with teachers of all areas in my courses, I've seen a few resources.

Thank you @Suzanne Becking! I appreciate your response and the resources. There have been a lot of resources shared in the Facebook community for Spanish teachers and more is coming. It has been great to see so many educators doing webinars, authors doing read alouds and the sharing of activities for families too during this time.

    Hi, Rachelle,

This is a great question.  This was one of the last conversations that I had with our HS Spanish teacher before our school closure took effect.  He had mentioned that in his class it is so important to have daily oral communication.....the best way to learn how to speak a foreign language is to practice speaking it.

Tech resources that can address this idea include: Flipgrid, Google Meet, Padlet, really any video based platform that allows students to record their voices to demonstrate their use of speaking in a foreign language.

Non tech resources: I am sharing a link that has some really great ideas to immerse students into practicing / learning foreign languages without being dependent on a lot of technology.  One way to learn a foreing language is to immerse yourself into it as much as possible.  For example, instead of watching television in one's native language, choose to watch it in another language (even with subtititle if that helps.)  Hope this link offers some ideas.  https://www.fluentu.com/blog/foreign-language-immersion/

Hi @Marcy Brugger, thanks  for sharing the blog post, great ideas in there and I will share it with some of my colleagues.  We definitely rely on Flipgrid and I have been using Zoom and have also used Voxer with  students over the years for PBL and  speaking assessments. Buncee is a great option to have students create and also be able to record a video to narrate a story or reflect on something that they read.
