What do you think are some best practices for elementary schools that are utilizing remote learning?

We are currently in what we're calling "enrichment" phase. Most of our teachers were able to send home some worksheets with skills practice the Friday before all schools were required to close. That being said, we have asked all of our teachers to begin thinking about ways they can take what they do in their classrooms and put it online. Our school uses Google and lots of our older students have been using Google Classroom for years, so all of our teachers were required to create a Classroom and all assignments/communication will be posted there. For our littles, most of what we are asking them to do include things like watching a video of their teacher reading a book, going on a nature walk with a parent or sibling to observe weather or animals, some fact fluency and math facts practice using MobyMax, some skills reinforcement with Reading Eggs, Lalilo, and Scholastic.

Our Kindergarten teachers are creating learning experiences that will not take longer than 15-25 minutes most days for students. At this point we have not had to transition to fully online teaching (yet) so we are taking some time to work through what required assignments, direct instruction with new materials, etc. looks like and how we can best implement this with our littlest learners.

Many districts have been offering ideas to keep their students learning.  I've been making newsletters that teachers can send to families.  Here is a link to them.  Feel free to use as you see fit! Parent Newsletters
