Chrome Extensions for Hangout Meet

    Hello!

Just checking if anyone could recommend Chrome extensions that can be useful for Hangouts Meet?
I found Meet Grid which really helps to see the participants during the call. Also, Meet Attendance collects attendance during Google Meet generating a Google Sheet automatically.  I'm looking for a whiteboard extension? Or any other suggestions? Thank you!

    Be safe and healthy!

    Good morning!

Not sure if you would want this extension for Google Meets but I learned about it earlier this week. The extension is called "Nod- Reactions for Google Meet" and it allows students to react during the meeting similar to reactions on a Facebook live video. For a whiteboard extension, you could try Ziteboard and during the Google Meet just present your screen. You can share the boards with students and then it would be a collaborative tool to use during the meeting.

    Hope this is helpful!

    Hi Jessica,
Yes, I also heard about Nod this week in a webinar :)
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll try Ziteboard to see how it goes.

    Thanks again! Take care,

    Hi,

I was going to recommend both Google Grid View and Meet Attendance. For a whiteboard, I like using Jamboard as it part of the GSuite Collection.

I agree with all of the comments about the Grid view to see all students and using Jamboard for an interactive whiteboard.  I'll be following the feed to see about some other ideas!

    Hello,

I agree with everyone that Grid View and Attendance are awesome! I personally love Jamboard with students, but have found that it presents bandwidth problems if students do not have an exceptional internet connection. We have begun using AWW App and Whiteboard.fi as lower bandwidth options for whiteboard.

    Thank you!

Thank you all for your replies!
I have installed Meet Grid and Meet Attendance (it works perfectly after a recent update).
I also find Awwapp very useful, I tested it and it runs smoothly on the students' iPads.

    Stay safe everyone!
    Best,

Have you tried Whiteboard.fi? You do not need the students to log in and works on all devices.

    Hi Daniela,

Nod-reactions for Google is another good one to help send emojis and to "raise" your hand during a google meet.

I would second the Nod extension to allow for student reactions with emojis and also a raise your hand feature when muted.  There is also a newer extension that allows for a raise your hand feature and a built in white board.  Here's the link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-meet-classroom-ext/kbdbkfhklpbhpigonbdbclmnkmogfecl.

Luckily, Google announced that grid view will now be incorporated into Google meet and you will not need the extension soon.

Have you tried conceptboard.com for a digital whiteboard?  You can insert google files, upload files, images or just use a whiteboard.  The free version is robust (you can insert files from google, images, pdfs, etc.) and you can have unlimited boards.

I love the attendance extension and Grid view will be incorporated soon.  As far as whiteboards, I like to use Jamboard or whiteboard.fi.  I've also used Kami as a collaborative activity which has worked out really well.  I will have to try the one Jen recommended!

    Hi Jennifer,
I loved the news about the grid view.  I just installed the new extension, it's nice.  I'll take a look at conceptboard.com.

Thank you so much for sharing Jennifer!!

I just think that conceptboard.com is much easier to use than Jamboard if you are trying to insert pdfs, docs, etc.  With Jamboard, you have to use the Android app in order to insert files which is not very intuitive when you insert the file how to expand it and work with the file.  Conceptboard was just a little easier.  Unfortunately, Conceptboard.com isn't approved in our district this year for use with students (going to set up for next year but admin didn't want to add a new tool during this time) so I cannot get the collaborative features as I can with Jamboard, which is approved.
