Safety daycare visiting

Hi there. I want to ask a question regarding a daycare. My son is in one of the best daycares in Brooklyn - littlescholarsnyc.com. He enjoys going there, so I decided not to stay him at home while the pandemic. Some of the daycares are closed, but ours is still working. Fortunately, there are no virus cases this autumn. They take care of kids and check their health condition three times a day. But they do not allow parents to come in. So, I can watch my kid singing through facetime. Is it a normal situation for a COID period?

Yes, I'd say that's totally normal. A lot of my friends have to pass their kids off to their daycare/PreK providers outside, wait in the car during dance lessons instead of being in the room or watching through the window, etc.

We've gone fully virtual for a few weeks here around the holidays (cases are spiking in our area) but when we had our kiddos in the buildings no outside visitors were allowed past the front office areas. Even the people from the district office have been minimizing our trips to the school buildings and doing more via phone and videoconference.

    Hey Edward,

I'm in Oregon and this is normal here for daycares still operating. I know it's particularly weird for the adults who had their kids start daycare during the pandemic--they have never even seen the inside of where their kids spend their days!

Agreed. I'm in IL, and mine is the same. We pass them off in the lobby.
    It's super weird.
I work in one school district which is pushing super hard to go back full time. Our teachers have been working from the school buildings since August. I live in a different district about 45 minutes away from where I work, and my children are fully remote and have been since Aug. Their teachers are even in the buildings.

To Simon's point, we have 100 new families each year and this year most of the parents have never been inside the gate, including boarding families from Qatar, the US, Russia...  Some of our new boarders flew into Italy alone, were picked up at the airport, and shuttled directly to quarantine for 2 weeks before coming to the school.  Such a strange year!

I didn't even think about how the daycare experience scales up to an international boarding school, Elizebeth. I guess it shows the parents have a lot of faith in you!

Good afternoon, Edward! I absolutely understand you, but yes, this is a normal situation now. If they would not follow all the rules and restrictions, they would probably have to close. Anyway, my nephew is also in Little Scholars child early education Brooklyn. I know that they provide everyday parent communication, which is really rare among other daycare centers. Some parents just have no idea how their kids are and what they do while they are in kindergarten. So, I should say your kid is lucky to be there! The most important now is our health, so we have to deal with all those problems together! Stay safe and believe that all will end soon and we'll come back to normal life!
