Student created website

I teach middle school science and next year I would like to have my students create their own website.  My umbrella idea is that for each unit/topic I will have a content task (explain the connection between two body systems, illustrate how an invasive species affects a food web, etc.) and a menu of digital tasks (create a comic strip, mini-book, slideshow, etc.) to demonstrate this knowledge.  I have a decent list of free, user-friendly websites to utilize.  I'm looking for new, creative ideas or websites/apps for my students to use.  We are a 1:1 school and use Chromebooks.  I have 55 min classes and an extra 30 min overtime session with each class on a rotational schedule.

Some tools I already have/use are:  Prezi, Movari, Google slides/forms/etc., Popplet, Powtoon, Bookemon, Pixton, Makebeliefcomix, Canva, Quizlet, Quizizz, Kahoot, Socrative, and others.

I also would like input on the best website creator to use.  I have created one myself using Weebly but also have heard that Wix is a viable option.

Thanks in advance for your input and suggestions.

If you are a GSuites school, you might have access to Google Sites. If you do not, ask your administrator/IT department if it is something they can authorize.

For a 1:1 Chromebook class, I recommend the new Google Sites.
I used Google Sites with my 7th and 8th graders this past year with great success. The new Google Sites is very user-friendly (it's mostly drag-and-drop). Uploading/inserting from Google Drive is easy as well.

    Good luck!

Thank you - I have several people who have suggested Google Sites.  I think that's what I'll use.
