Schools can use the Engagement Project to build a more engaging and inclusive learning climate that fosters student motivation and achievement. This free software from PERTS enables teachers to quickly identify and address the main barriers to student engagement in each class. Unlike annual, school-level climate surveys that offer little insight into how to improve, the Engagement Project uses new, 5-minute pulse surveys designed by Stanford researchers to show teachers whether students feel supported and challenged in their classes and whether they understand the relevance of lessons (all of which are key predictors of engaged and effective learning). The rapid feedback is paired with practical strategies that help teachers refine their practice for greater engagement. Most teachers quickly see measurable improvements in their classroom climate.

More about the Engagement Project:

  • This slide deck provides more context about the Engagement Project.
  • This sample report shows what questions students answers and how teachers get feedback, within a few days of administering a 5-10 minute survey.
The Guide to the Learning Conditions provides context for why students’ answers to specific questions are important and what specific strategies teachers can use to enhance students’ experiences.
