Bio

My name is Stacy Tippens and I am an Educational Technology Specialist at the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia. I have been at Madeira since 2014 but worked as an IT or Ed Tech Specialist since 1997, only taking a break when I had my now 14-year-old daughter. In addition to working as an Educational Technology Specialist, I edit The National Coalition of Girls' School's podcast, titled "PEP Talks," I created an online micro-course for The Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools (ATLIS) and I have taught Hebrew and Jewish Studies at a local Synagogue. I have my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Blended and Online Learning from George Mason University. As an Ed Tech Specialist, I have a passion for helping others innovate in all areas of education. Since coming to Madeira I have had the opportunity to sponsor many educational technology initiatives, and serve on many committees in service of our school vision of “Leading innovation in girls’ education,” and our strategic goal of, “Bring the world to Madeira and Madeira to the world.” Some of my accomplishments include working on our in-house STEAM initiative, co-chairing our yearly community conference called MadeiraED, opening an audio recording studio, developing curriculum utilizing Virtual and Augmented Realities, Chairing the DV/Maryland/Virginia STEAM Professional Learning Community, and serving on the 2018 and 2019 ATLIS Conference planning committee. I also serve as the communications coordinator for the parents of the Class of 2022 at Langley High School.
