Bio

Hank Nourse leads the Academy's Global STEM Alliance (GSA), a bold initiative to advance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education worldwide. With more than 250 partners, and reaching participants in over 100 countries, the GSA directly engages tens of thousands of students and teachers annually, providing mentorship, skill building, and professional development spanning K–12 and higher education. As the Academy’s principal voice on STEM education, Hank often speaks at conferences and provides strategic consulting to commercial and nonprofit education agencies around the world. He serves as a member of IBE-UNESCO’s technical advisory group on Future Competencies and the Future of Curriculum and sits on the board of the IoT Talent Consortium. Hank joined the Academy in 2015, bringing more than 15 years of experience in the educational publishing and education technology industries, where he specialized in the creation of adaptive instruction and assessment programs for the K–12 market. He spent over 10 years at Scholastic, a global children's publishing, education, and media company, where he helped develop industry-leading education technology products such as READ 180, System 44, and iRead. He holds a Master’s degree in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University.
