April DeGennaro is a gifted teacher in Peachtree City, Georgia. Dr. DeGennaro attended the University of Virginia for both undergraduate and Masters degrees and was an instructor at the UVA Saturday and Summer Programs for the gifted and UVA Summer Technology Institute. After teaching regular education and special education for ten years, Dr. DeGennaro has taught gifted kids in a resource pull-out setting for the last fifteen years. She earned her Ph.D. from Georgia State University in Early Childhood Education. Dr. D., as her students' call her, teaches K-5 students at Peeples Elementary. Her research interests are the use of authentic technology to improve curriculum and instruction and to increase differentiation for gifted students; professional development, and the use of robotics to extend science curriculum.
